Senior Pastor -                            Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne

 

Brian was raised in Chicago and began serving with the United Church of Christ prior to graduating seminary.  He pursued his undergraduate work at Rockford College, earning a BA in Philosophy and Religion, and received his Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary.  In 2005, he received his Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary.  Brian has served congregations in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio as Senior Pastor.

Brian and his wife, Sharlene, met at Rockford College.   They were married in the Chicago area on July 18, 1981.  They have two sons, Connor  and Brendan. Brian enjoys cooking, cycling and golf.  Brian and Sharlene enjoy music and movies. 

Brian has been active in many communities with not for profits, such as Family Promise and Habitat for Humanity.  He has started a CROP Walk in Hamilton County, Indiana, and worked to resettle over 50 refugees from many different countries.

               

Church Council President- Gail Meyer

                                                           Gail Gilmore Baldes Meyer was baptized and grew up at St. Paul UCC in Pekin.

Gail graduated from Pekin Community High School and Southern Illinois University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Treasury Finance as a division manager until her retirement in 2015.

She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, fishing, birdwatching and exercising.  Gail is a volunteer with YWCA Adult Literacy.

 

Choir Director - Vivian Gerrietts

                                                                Vivian Deppert Gerrietts grew up at St. Paul UCC in Pekin.  It is one of the places where she fell in love with music singing hymns in harmony with hergrandmother.  She received her BS in music education at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.  Although instrumental music was her emphasis, she trained in choral music as well.  Church music has become one of her favorites which she hopes shows in her service of God at St. Paul.

 

Organist - Gayle Cooper

 

                                                            Gayle has served as organist  for St. Paul church for many years.  She lives in Macomb with her husband, Dr. John Cooper.

 

 

 

 

Secretary - Betsy Rylee

                                

 

Betsy joined the St. Paul Church staff in August, 2012. She was raised in Washington, IL, and now lives in Glasford. She is a proud mother of four children – three grown and one still living at home, and also loves being a grandmother. In her free time, she enjoys photography, baking, and traveling. She enjoys her work here as the secretary of St. Paul Church.
